BEHOLD, THE POWER OF THE INTERNET. I can’t decide: should I hang it above my desk or above my bed? Or bring it in to work and have it there? Or over the TV at home??? I might need more than one.
(In case you are interesting in convo-ing queenelectric to get your own awesome banner, this was $36 plus shipping. she does custom orders! magic!)

$36 for a paper banner? seriously? is this what DIY culture has become?
dude, just make it yourself.
cut out paper letters and attach them together.
this is like elementary shit.and if you’re really lazy, you can go to party supply stores
and buy custom banners for like $10

I just thought I’d take a minute to address this enraged citizen’s concerns.
1. “$36.” Yes, that particular banner is $36, because I charge by the letter/shape, and it has a lot. A shorter banner would be proportionally less money- one woman bought one for a baby named Una, her name with two unicorns, and it cost $10. IT’S JUST MATH, PEOPLE. If you go on etsy and do a search for glitter banners you’ll find other people making similar items and every single one I’ve found so far charges more per letter (some are as much as $6 per) than I do, most use cardboard (please see below for my problem with that), and none I’ve found so far have as many colours, or ombre, or as many custom options as I do. I’m not shitting on these other sellers; if they can make some extra money selling their items then good for them, and good for me if I do too.
2. “A paper banner.” My banners aren’t made of paper. I put paper on the backs (sometimes printed with millions of cats!) but the front, the part you actually see, the part with the glitter, is actually polyurethane craft foam. I USED to make all-paper banners but any humidity makes the letters curl up, and I tried using various cardboards but the problem I found is if they get bent they crease really easily and then they are ruined. The craft foam is much more flexible and durable.
3. “Just make it yourself.” Yes, by all means, do! I’ve encouraged plenty of people to make their own stuff and even posted tutorials on how to make some things on my blog (SPACE SHIRT, ANYONE??). If you like to do crafts, want to do crafts, have the time to do crafts, then go right ahead and make it yourself! I APPLAUD YOUR CRAFTINESS. But some people don’t have the time or desire to do so, or maybe they just want to support small business, and if that’s the case, why do you care so much on how they spend their money? It’s not like they are asking you to buy one.
4. “This is elementary shit.” Take some sheets of craft foam and an exacto knife into an elementary school classroom and please show me the letters you come back with. I’ll even lend you my first aid kit.
5. “You can go to party supply stores and buy custom banners.” Please see my above comments about supporting small businesses. Also, are the custom banners at party supply stores made with sparkly glitter letters? Do they spend hours blending a second colour in an ombre effect on each individual letter? Will they make custom templates just for you so that you can have your shop’s logo on your banner, or your name in Hindi, or clouds in a particular shape and colour to match those on a party invitation? Will they do that for no additional charge? Like I mean I literally don’t know so please link me to the websites for any and all party supply stores that make custom glitter banners in twelve colours with 24 options for ombre (actually 25- I finally got yellow glitter!), that will make special templates just for you in the shape of your choosing, hand-kern each letter and hang them on satin ribbon, and finish the back with coordinating or cute or metallic paper so that your banner looks nice from every angle.
….. or how about if you don’t like what I do JUST DON’T BUY ONE. idk. It doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to me but I guess people like to be mad.
